In case you missed it: "...Le Corbusier had said, 'L'avion accuse!' "

Very nice
The only bit I disagree with is the status given to the Mont Blanc pen and Rolex watch. Both of which I think are a tad effete. Still highly regarded more as a testament to their publicists than any honestly "timeless" superiority. I'm rather more impressed by a Bic and a good Timex. I think value is an important component of good modern design. Does the Rolex have an Indiglo® illuminated dial?

your reading was correct Eames and Billy were great friends and always helped charles with his early day passion for film it was a birthday gift for him ,
James I got a Rolex President 30 years ago last week , I gave $1700.00 for it then , I love that watch today as much as i liked it 30 years ago, of all the investments that I have made that one has really gone up the most, the design is still as good as it was 50 years ago and it still keeps good time I guess you could say it is Timeless.
To James I would respectfully disagree.
I purchased a Rolex Submariner back in the early eighties after graduating from University and it has been on my wrist ever since. It has taken a frightful amount of abuse, from 60 feet below the surface of the ocean, I used to scuba dive, to building stonewalls. I've washed the dog and the car wearing it, and gone from jeans and a polo shirt, to business attire to formal wear with it and it always looks appropriate. It has kept perfect time and is perfectly readable in the dark of the theater to waking up in the middle of the night. It is a self winder so there has never been a need to change batteries and has kept near perfect time. I dare say that there are not many Timex's that would still be providing reliable service after all that abuse 27 years later. In fact my father is still wearing his Rolex that he received back in 1955 when he graduated from University which works out to 52 years. Rolex scores points in my mind and I should think in LRF's and Antonella's in as much as there are few products that one can acquire that are likely to outlast the original owner. How many Timex's would I or my father have purchased in the last 27 or 52 years given the use and abuse day in and day out that our Rolexs have received? As an added bonus, the original James Bond in the Ian Flemming novels wore a Rolex and infact saved his own life by using it as brass knuckles across his hand and smashed it into the face of an adversary. (Might have been Casino Royale or From Russia with Love) The Omega came along much later.
In Texas were every thing...
In Texas were every thing is bigger they call the Rolex
"The Texas Timex" cause every one had one in the 1980's
It truly is amazing , people who own Rolexs are very protective and proud of them , I like watches and have several, I like my Brightling chromate and i have a cool Porsche watch also, but the Rolex is so rich in history and design, it is amazing what great styles that over the years they have managed to come up with.(love the rosegold of the early 50's a killer)
I wear a stainless Rolex...
I wear a stainless Rolex airking most every day. I think it might have been my 30th birthday gift from my folks or something. It keeps real good time and is so easy to read. When I'm in Florida for 5 months, I don't wear a watch...as I don't really care what time it is.
