No I don't mean dinner and a movie.
I just purchased a truly gorgeous little Dunbar accent table. The Dunbar logo is burned into the bottom of the base and there are also some numbers that indicate a date(?)
Does anyone have any information as to how to interpret the numbers and thus ascertain whether it is a Wormley design?
Shame on me...
'after a bit more research, I find that you( as usual) are right. The table is bleached mahagony with a round top and an elegant urn-shaped pedestal resting on a sweeping and simple square plinth. Modern, yet classic-perfectly restrained and suitable for any decor. therein lies his genius.Oh yes, and I paid only six dollars for it at a thrift store! ( Now it's even more be beautiful !)
I still, however, would like to attempt to determine the date of manufacture. Anyone?
.
Well if its anything like 5/31...thats May 1931 or any variation such as 5-31.The square base can be earlier also the urn form/device was popular more in the 1930s-earlier 40s "neo" neo classic 1931-48 or so?We must recall the war years saw little furniture production.Wormley did a great pectin shell resting on a rectangular base with matching top...(console table)...
