I think I was lucky enough yesterday to score a set of six chairs and dining table of Kai Kristiansen for Schou Andersen in almost flawless condition. First, by searching online I could not find any set made other than Teak and these are most probably Rosewood or walnut (my hunch is Rosewood) . They are very well made to the last detail and hardware. Did Schou Andersen or any other fabricator made any of these in rosewood? Second, there is no marking or logo on any of these pieces, is that usual? Your input is greatly appreciated since this is my first ownership of Kai Kristianse designs. BTW, the table incredible in workmanship and use of material.
Other examples online have this tag under the seat, which could easily fall off, or get tossed when reupholstered. I did not see any examples in rosewood. A couple of listings described them as a cherry finish. Hard to tell from your pictures, but they don't appear to have the grain of rosewood. Their current versions come in beech and oak with a choice of stains, including cherry.
I assume that the design is not old enough to have been produced in rosewood. It's from the 70s, and rosewood had almost disappeared from the market by then. From what I can tell, the chairs you posted could be stained beech. Probably mohagony stain, which is still offered. As mark737 wrote, it is not unusual for Schou Andersen that there is no marking. I think the company almost exclusively used paper marks, which fall off all the time.

Thank you mark737 and Herringbone for your very helpful feedback and comments , you are both correct regarding the type of wood and the tag. Since I am not able to edit this posting I am posting another entry on the table which I do not know if it is made by same manufacturer - again your feed back would be greatly appreciated.
