AllthingsStig,
You may be ...
AllthingsStig,
You may be interested in knowing that the All Steel and Bjorn Dahlström, Dahlstrom 98 cookware were also manufactured under the Hackman brand prior to Iittala's acquisition.
I acquired the Citterio 98 flatware (polished seven piece set x eight + serving pieces) and the complete sets of Dahlstrom 98, All Steel, (2) *Avanti Unipot 3 liter steamers, *Party cookware, and the *Nanny Still, Panny for Hackman all heavily discounted due to the name change (all the pieces all well as the packaging were marked with the Hackman name and logo)
*These series were permanently discontinued and no longer in production.
Even at less 70% it was still a few thousand dollars, but I will never have to purchase any cookware and they threw in an "out of box" Timo Sarpaneva cast iron pot to complete the deal.
Never is a poor choice of words, as I did get the Richard Sapper, La Cintura di Orione Flambe lamp and the Fish poacher for Alessi for specialized cooking.

Cool cutlery
Are you able to discern a quality difference between the Hackman and Iittala versions of the Citterio 98?
It sounds as if you have a wonderful set up.

no change
AllthingsStig,
The only difference is the branding (logo) on the product and the package. They are the same in build and quality.
Yes, I am pleased with this flatware and the cookware. For me form and function of the Citterio 98 flatware and Dahlstrom 98 cookware are 100%.
I was able to purchase the Erik Bagger Harmony flatware for Erik Bagger Denmark (6 x 12) new and unused in the original packaging for "next to nothing" last year and did so as a back-up set.

Back up set?
You must mean in case the dish runs away with the spoon I suppose. Now that is being seriously prepared for all dining contingencies.

Coolcutlery
Again, thank you for the information. Your backup set is also nice(guy). My Citterio is for 12 and, while hosting Thanksgiving dinner, I could have used a backup set.

I had been keeping my eyes open for a good deal on an old Dansk Variations set (IV, V, or VI) for a few months now. Just recently one eBay auction for a nice set of IV's (mostly Denmarks with a few Germanys tossed in) stayed low enough for me to bid and win. I just started using them a couple of days ago for my everyday flatware, after almost 20 years with a Retroneu set (either Aspen or Maxima, I think).

Some different proportions and weights to get used to, but so far I am quite happy with the switch.

Quick question: does anyone know the chronological order of country manufacture for the Variation series? My assumption has been 1) Denmark, 2) Germany, 3) Finland, 4) Japan, 5) Korea, 6) China. Thanks.

regrets, I have a few.
I had an almost complete set of denmark/3 ducks Dansk...which I sold.  TO THIS DAY I regret it.
I currently use a pattern called Leonora (Japan/national) that I quite like and which can still be found here and there.
