Hi,

I'm looking to sell my Brazilian rosewood dining set and would really appreciate some information. The only information I've found so far is that the table was produced by Gudme Mobelfabrik so I assume that the designer is Niels Otto Moller. And the hutch or sideboard is by Skovby. Can someone please tell me if this table is solid rosewood or just rosewood veneer over mahogany? I had procured a professional appraiser and am being charged nearly $200 a certificate full of spelling mistakes and was told that my set was veneer and not solid. But I believe otherwise.

And also, what would the market value be? I live in Calgary, Alberta Canada and haven't been able to find much info.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated!!

Looks
In my opinion the table top is veneer, hutch is veneer, table legs and skirting may be solid rosewood, chairs look solid.
I live in British Columbia, a set like that could sell for about 1000 to 1200 on Craigslist, but they seem to take a while to sell at that price. The table does not look like a Moller design to me

still not sure...
I'm pretty sure the legs on the table are signature Moller designs. I also took another closer look and the table and chairs are 100% solid. And I think most of the cabinet and hutch is solid as well. Except the doors on the hutch might be veneers and the drawers might be mahagony?
Unless they're intricately designed, I believe they're mostly solid wood construction.

As mo-no said: the table top...
As mo-no said: the table top is veneer. The legs and edge banding are solid rosewood. The case piece is veneer; probably with solid edge banding as well.
What documentation is there for this table as a N.O. Møller design? I have occasionally seen such an attribution, but never substantiation.

no documentation...
I was only guessing. The only thing I have on the table is a stamp of "Gudme Mobelfabrik, made in Denmark" underneath. So I only assumed that it was Niels' design since they've collaborated on other works.
As for the cabinet/sideboard, I came up with Skovby because that's what others have labelled through some searching online.
So really, I didn't even know where these things were made until just a couple of months ago. I only have a little bit of information on the table and that the set was purchased over 30 years ago for about $30,000 CAD on special. So any information regarding designers and makers of these items would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
