Hello DA-ers,
The past week, I went to a sale in my hometown (Courtrai/Belgium). The belongings of an artist/designer were being sold. He worked a big period of his life for Decoene, a firm that produced several designs for Knoll, in Europe.
They were known for their knowledge and technical experiments with various woods.
A Bird-chair with ottoman was being sold. Everything in his house were probably prototypes. The Bird eventually went for 800? (without commission).
Now for my question:
I was in an old artist's house and saw a chair very similar to the bird. I tried to obtain it, but without luck so far.
I'm interested if this design was being copied much back in the days and wich brand would have produced this one?
Thanks in advance!
BJ
