Good afternoon,
I recently acquired a set of three AX chair designed by Hvidt & Molgaard for Fritz Hansen (see picture).
Two of them have only one arm (one with left arm, one with right arm) and the middle one is armless. I cannot find any information on this specific set of chairs : were they produced at a specific moment of the production period of AX chairs ? Is there a specific reference ? Is such set of three less common than other AX chairs, with two arms or armless ?
More generally, the sticker label by FH mentions reference 0565, but I noticed this number can be found on several various models produced by FH. Is "0565" the FH in-house code for chairs ?
Thanks a lot for any info on this,
Best regards
Mika
The AX did have a few variations, including being sold as a set of three: left arm, no arm, right arm, like yours. Here is a FH catalog page from 1963, which shows the variations and model numbers for each. Note the FH model number code:
60xx = AX chair - two arms
61xx = AX chair - no arms
62xx = AX chair - right arm
63xx = AX chair - left arm
xx03 = fabric
xx20 = wood
People often confuse the numbers on FH labels for model numbers. Instead they are code for production date; 0565 = May 1965.
Thanks a million @cdsilva, it is very useful and helpful.
So I have on my pic, from top to bottom, references 6203, 6103 and 6303, the three from May 65.
Best
Mika
