Hi there. I am contemplating buying an Arflex Marenco sofa, possibly in leather. It’s a big chunk of money for me so I need to know it’s going last a LONG time. I see the odd vintage one and they often look pretty saggy and bloated. Does anyone have Marenco? How had it lasted? And any thoughts on the quality of their leathers?
Many thanks!
thanks!
@asymr Logged in after many years just to answer your question.
I own a new production Marenco 3-seater sofa in leather “Ambra” I believe. We have it in our living room for about 7 months now and I truly hate it.
For the money spent on an aniline leather version, I regret buying it. We ordered it without trying it out as no shop was near us, so a bit of a gamble.
I think it is mostly because it’s so incredibly uncomfortable. The three pillows don’t give in which makes you feel like your sitting on a little hill and you kind off can slide of it. after more than six months the foam is still as hard as day one. We will be selling it before the end of the year - 100% sure.
i have more the idea that this sofa was re-designed just to look good on photos rather than for confort.
stay away - buy something better for less!
Please, don't hold back!
I hope you don't mind if I laughed out loud, but it's opinionated reviews like yours that remind me of the old DA days. Patrick and Alix would be proud!
Thank you!
But going back to the initial question: yes, it will last long and the materials are top. Whether it’s comfortable it’s a separate topic. Many great designs are far from comfortable. If you are looking for something that looks good, go for it. If you aim to make it your nest for watching movies or reading… mah
