Kenneth Frampton uses the term produktform, its doesn't really apply here but there are similarities, mostly the buidlings/objects have a single impenetrable and modular facade or skin, I've allways wanted to see Fosters curtain wall insurance offices in Ipswich.
I'd say if the 'building' doesn't provide for all the extended amenities necessary for habitation (whatever the program) then its industrial design. That can be beautiful, practical and intelligent too but its not architecture.
