Sorry, no image.
From 70s
Hand turned and finished.
Smaller angular frosted milk glass shade
Larger Smoked glass mushroom shaped shade over
Very similar to lamp shown, but taller and with wider rounded base.
Not signed, but not a home project.
Does anyone have any examples or remember where this style would fit in? I wouldn't say it's Sam Maloof, it's symmetrical, but fits into that department.
Looks American / West Coast
What I was thinking was more...
What I was thinking was more like a really good woodworker/carver who admired Maloof made it. It's very symmetrical and formal, which his work was not.
This one is done especially well - the wood is lightweight and very smooth, the joinery is nice and the whole thing is super clean.
If you can imagine a laurel mushroom lamp with a wooden base, a smoked glass shade covering a smaller angular frosted glass bulb cover...
That would be it - I just don't know what this group of stuff was called, or where you might have bought it etc. It was definitely a fashion for a while there.
Every time I see a laurel mus...
Every time I see a laurel mushroom lamp I am reminded of the time I passed up a pair a few years ago for $30.00. The owner told me she purchased them new a year earlier when I asked how long she had them.
I had never seen a laurel mushroom lamp before this and it wasn't love at first sight but I should have went with my gut instinct and taken them. Now I get a true stomach ache every time I see one!
Tapio Wirkkala used bulbs...
Tapio Wirkkala used bulbs like these is his hanging pendants (see link) and some table lamps.... but I've never seen a lamp like this attributed to him

super cool lamp! Thanks so much!
That is exactly the bulb used.
I was wondering if they were even available today.
Anyhoo, I'd love to rescue it, and it's a superclean little lamp, but without the ID I'm not buying.
And I don't think it is him, because there is a seam joining the base to the stem.
Thanks, again!
