the coolness of the Flair aside,
I'm resigned to enjoying the beauty of contempary American gas stoves and electric refrigerators. I like a side by side fridge (don't understand why so many British kitchens only have a countertop sized half fridge....
My house is 1924, coverted in 1978 and bumped out so my kitchen's 30x18. It has a brownish ceramic tiled floor and standard, rather unattractive Oak cabinets. I changed the ugly burnt metal pulls for new brass curved modern handles.
All of the appliances are either new or in good condition, so I'm keeping what's there until they die. Never had a dishwasher before, it's great.
Because of the size of the kitchen (long and a bit narrow), I bought some Metro shelving and placed it along the bare wall and I have my Paul McCobb black square Planner Group table with 2 black armchairs and 2 dark maple side chairs. It looks great.
I changed the ugly chandeller over the breakfast table for a nice Scandinavian hanging pendant....it's copper. Across from the breakfast area is a long blank wall and i have two credenzas on the wall. (I'll take a snap of 'em, because I don't know who designed them.)
It works for me. How all I need is some more Nelson clocks!
Well well... I finally found something I'd give up my Princess for...
My McLary-Easy "Princess" that is. (She's made by GE, I hear tell....). Prior to this, I wouldn't give her up for a massage by Angelina Jolie - *with* a happy ending. But as an exchange for the Flair... I'd seriously think about loosening my grip.
As for the parts... no problem. I took her apart, piece by piece, wire by wire, inside & out, and rebuilt her to better standards. Almost everything that matters (on this model), is easily replaceable. At one point, I even replaced some of her burners with solid burners, but.... soon found out how much solid burners suck.
