I found these two chairs last weekend. They have the nice maple arms, plus original upholstery and tags. I would like to see if anyone has the designer figured out without spending 20 hours in old magazines.

thanks

Michael Thonet
Can't see an image, but perhaps Michael Thonet, 1796-1871, german/austrian furniture maker.

Hi all I still haven't...
I still haven't found a designer by looking at the patents, or a number of furniture books. I did find a pop couple sitting on the two seat version of this chair.
Let me know if anyone has a clue about the designer. If you think thonet just copied a similar design, let me know that also.
This is from a very cool website called "The Nifty Fifties"
Which is a blast to look at in itself!
