Found a set of these mixing bowls (probably a partial set, since just two bowls) at the thrift store a week ago. They work great. Big one is white. Medium one is Brown. Don't have the small one, if there was one. They have a nice, big mug style handle on the side that rises to about an inch and a half above the bowl rim. They are made out of some kind of plastic. They have circular bases with rubber gasket like rings inset that keep the bowls from sliding on the counter tip and make for a nice cushioned set down. I really like cooking with these. Just mixed up the topping to apple crisp in the bigger bowl. By the way, I just picked the apples from our orchard just a wee bit early to give the apple crisp just a little extra tangyness. Global warming has brought our orchard a bumper crop that has come a bit earlier than usual. 🙂 However, for the next two months (summer comes in August and September in central California), we will pay for this gift from nature with sweltering hot temperatures. 🙁
Post Script: These bowls are, of course, no substitute for Koen's tilt-a-bowls, but they are better than our granite-like ceramic stone ware bowls that require regular weight training to continue to use. 🙂 Plus they have handles and store tidily.
Hi DC
I am not 100% sure because in those days the Dansk headquarters in Mount Kisco (NY) was quite a busy place...but I think it is Chris Hacker, now vice president design for Johnson & Johnson..yes, still a family company, well known for being one of the well articulated advocates for keeping sustainability of resources a major quality in design. Another possibility is Lorenzo Porcelli who was one of the consultants Chris Hacker worked with.
