Since the arrangement with
Herman Miller ended (about 3 years ago), Artek does not have American distribution.
I emailed Artek last month and they said they were working on US Representation. I suggest signing up an exclusive deal with Design Within Reach, which would give DWR a line that they would have exclusively.
We'll see.

Did you suggest that to Artek or are you just reiterating your suggestion here? Also - have you tried contacting Design Within Reach about it?
I think it's a great idea - there aren't too many Aalto pieces that I would fit in my house but it would make me happy to see them for sale again. I bought the last two from DWR as sample sale pieces when Herman Miller dropped them.

Artek directly by email and spoke to someone at DWR on the phone.
Maybe I'm meddling will help!

Artek "Stool 60" at MoMA
Unless this is an exception, Artek must have some form of distribution in the U.S.A. because you can buy their Aalto "Stool 60" at the New York MoMA stores. (If you're a member, their members-get-20%-off days are good times to buy furniture.)
