bought a fredrick kayser dining set 6 chairs and table with 2 extensions in Hays Kansas for $300. Have'nt sold it and don't think i will, but in my research i have found that the chairs themselves have sold at auction for about $600/ chair. Can't imagine what the whole set is worth.
Also i bought a painting by Jim Brainard for .50 cents. Jim Brainard is the brother of famous painter Joe Brainard kind of like buying a painting by warhol's brother.
I have also pulled numnerous things out of the trash, eames shells, saarinen chairs and emeco naval chairs.
Nanna Ditzel cradle
I posted about this in the other thread quite awhile ago but it's worth mentioning again because the cradle will soon have a new occupant---our first grandchild!
The cradle was with the dregs in a big auction and had a weed whacker or something like that in it. I couldn't get to it to look for marks (having no idea what it was). I was sure someone else would bid but no one did and I got it for the opening bid of $30.
I told my daughter, also a MCM afficionado, and she said, "You can't sell that!" And of course, I couldn't. That was several years ago and now she and her husband are expecting their first baby around June 1.
(I can't even sell it after the kid is done with it, either! All subsequent grandkids will use it, and then their kids will use it, etc., etc., etc.!)
Dansk Møbelkunst has a Nanna Ditzel cradle right now for $5000+ USD.
In other news: got a pair of big ol' 1970s ESS stereo speakers for $25 at auction. KILLER sound. They're not the model you see on ebay all the time but are better looking. I also got one or two other pairs of vintage speakers for under $10 that are worth a few hundred at least.
other goodies found cheaply
The largest original Nelson Bubble Cigar for $100.00 (yellowed and with a couple of small holes, but it's up and looks great).
My Kartel TV OXO cart bought for $125.00 that sells for $700.00 (found it on eBay).
The Aaron chair I'm sitting that I got on eBay for $275.00.
My Eames Dining Room table (47" or so in diameter, light grey formula top, dark grey edging, with the standard pedestal base) for $75.00.
Another similar Eames table, but with a wood top for $25.00.

I thought I'd already posted this but here goes again: Nelson Eye Clock, in the box with all the pieces (except one tiny brass collar between the minute & second hands), it was in the dumpster in my building - I still think one of the architecture firms threw it away. Not my fave Nelson clock, but an interesting one none-the-less.
I found a little beat-up Eames table at DWR on floor sale for like..30$. Also good 🙂
Just picked up a Vatne Falcon chair
I just picked up a Falcon chair last Friday. The leather cushion has many light cat scratches in it, but none go all the way through. The wood is in good shape, with just a few nicks here and there. I'm thinking about having a new cushion made and just keeping the old one. Cost: $10 plus gas and dinner at a Mexican restaurant for a friend who was nice enough to go pick it up for me.
