Hello to the wise, I have recently procurred some nice Danish furniture from the 1960's. The wood/veneer is rosewood but seems to have a flat finish. I am currently on a course to learn the art of french polishing but I realise the finish on my items is different.
So my question is two fold. 1 what kind of finish would this be and 2 how would I look to refurbish/refinish the items. I already posted previously a picture of one item which is a linen cupboard, happy to post the link again if need be.
Thank you for your help and advice!

I'm currently working on a rosewood set, I sand the pieces down with different grades of paper and finish them with trip-trap oil, just rubbing it evenly in.
I especially like the sideboard you have there.

Interesting. I took a draw from a coffee table to my french polish course and was told to try paint remover on it. To me it looked liked it was stained so it was of no use. I'll try to sand a part of the leg that can't be seen to see what happens. Might get some oild and try on a piece of spare veneer I have to see what the finish looks like.
