As far as I can tell everything on the old chairs was heavier except the five ply wood panels. The old three screw arms are very heavy. The bronze bushing in the base was much heavier than the current plastic hub liner. The down filled cushions are also much heavier than the dacron or the current foam filled cushions. The new chairs are seven ply and the wood set is heavier and stronger than the old chairs.
