These seem to be going quite well- in getting people to share their thoughts on some of the greatest furniture designers ever. This thread is for all Verner Panton lovers- the man that dared to defy the great Arne Jacobsen and so gained the reputation as the "enfant terrible" of the design world. His maverick designs in interior and furniture were absolute innovations at the time. The Stacking chair being a fav of mine. Please discuss and share picture. 🙂 http://blog.baseart.co.uk/124/verner-panton-life-legacy

Panton collector
I am a huge Panton fan and collector.
Have been in love with his design since i visited the exhibition in the late 90´s at the London design museum.
I am just starting to put together a website with my whole collection and wanted to share some pictures here.
Enjoy!

I have admired your site in the past actually! It is quite impressive and incredibly beautiful. Also, do you have any interest in 14 yards or so of blue Geometri fabric from the 60's?

panton chair
Recently they built a new library in Kingwood Texas. Northern suburb of Houston. The gaming room has numerous white panton chairs (repoductions) probably from Knoll . They are so comfortable and the teenagers sit and play PS3 and Wii
Yes the library is a place to meet and play games in the teenager or Young Adult section. (library terms)

Your site is very impressive...
... and so is your collection!
Also always good to hear classic design furniture is being put to good use in the public domain

Api and other knowledgeable Panton collectors
Over the years I have come across a few Panton flower pot lamps here in the US that have a hole at the bottom in the smaller semi-circle. Yet in most examples I see the bottom is solid and the only light is reflected light rather than any direct light coming through the hole.
What's the story?

Verner Panton print
A while ago I bought this 60cmx60cm framed print of the multicolored Schachbrett pattern. I never came across another print.
Maybe Api could give me some clarity on this print?

Not realy sure about those...
Not realy sure about those wall type Flowerpots.
I have seen them on the internet but never in person so I realy cant tell if they are the real thing.
If you have access to one it would be great if you could check if it has a LP label in the topshade and also if they are in enamel, they look kind of painted to me.
But LP made a few variations themselfes without Verners input, especially of the Topan lamp.
The signed print is kind of rare and they came in all the five different patterns he designed for Mira-X in the late 60´s, I have the square one in my collection.
I believe its a printed signature though so i would not pay to much for one but it would be cool to have the whole set.
I guess that they were used as promotional material for Mira-X.

Api
It's not just the wall mounted version that I have seen with a hole in the bottom shade, but also the table top, floor, and pendant version as well. It's the hole that has me perplexed more than anything, though I will check one out and try to determine if the finish is baked enamel or painted and if it bears a label.

Yes, please try to find one...
Yes, please try to find one and have a look, i am wondering as well.
I have not seen anything in the old LP catalogs except for the normal hanging version and the table version with the thin steel frame, so i would be suspicios of any other versions.
But it could be the case where a certian importer made their own fittings for the lamp, but the hole in the bottom shade is weird.
A closeup of one would answer all the questions since i haven ever seen a copy that was enameled.

Thanks Api for the explanation of the origin of these prints. The signature is indeed printed but nonetheless I like the collectability so I hope I'll find the other four someday.

Verner Panton book
Found this book launched in 1986 for his 60th birthday. It's a numbered limited edition of 10000.

Pantower
Hello all,
I was directed to this site by a fellow mid century design fan and am hoping someone can help me. I have a Verner Panton Pantower Chair that I am looking to sell as my family is moving into a 300 year old thatch cottage and we don't have any space for it.
We inherited it but believe it's a Vitra production due to it's condition and the research I did online.
Does anyone have any advice on where/how to sell it? Most shops I've contacted don't have the space or say it's too expensive to sell to average customer, etc.
Thanks for any advice you can give.
Meghan
