Hey all, I came across what I'm guessing is a small double seat bench. The owner said it was a older piece and they refinished it before selling, they didn't have any other info about it. It has a really unique look to it and seems really well made. Has anyone ever seen anything similar to this? Could it be a older one of kind piece made by a craftsman? Any knowledge would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance

It looks like it might be an American studio furniture piece from anytime post 1950. You might start by identifying the wood, as that might give you some clues to its origin and maker's intentions.

I agree with leif that it's likely unique. I'm less sure that species will tell you much, however. Exotics were all the rage with American Studio Movement makers back in the late '60's through '70's and your piece fairly screams that period to me.

Well if it is a known exotic, then you've nicely fit it in with the sort of thing it fairly screams itself to be. It mightn't tell you whose studio workshop it is from, which is what you want to know, but sometimes we have to plod through an identification accumulating information bit by bit.
Or if it were something more of a production choice exotic, that would mean another thing. If it is something utterly unrecognizable or bizarre or local, that might mean another thing entirely. Etc.
Of course I will also point out I am very rarely right if it makes Tktoo wrong. So there is probably nothing more to learn here.
