A lot of posts on finishing lately and it doesn't get mentioned, bought some today ($40.00/litre, sigh) and tested it out, its lovely, Probably full of driers and stuff but its nice and thin, smells good, soaks in but still makes a slight film, richens colour but not yellows, pure goldilocks.
Results similar to this on oak, a little less gloss.

Maybe for your use of...
Maybe for your use of shelving is great but I would never use it on floors which was all the rage many years ago.
Too much maintenance to use on floors as it quickly shows up path marks on trafficked areas and needs constant waxing.

.
Just riffing on Nelsons bench, pictures soon, when that bloody oil dries.
Seeing as I'm here and SDR may well be reading I'd like to run this past him or tktoo or anyone else, with the slats on something like Nelsons bench do you think when its made commercially that dados are just cut into a few 8"x1.75" boards a set distance apart and then all the slats ripped off? I was thinking even a fair bit of sanding and finishing could be done beforehand too.
