I do home renovations for a living, and this past week I used (for the first time) a relatively new product for finishing tiled countertop edges, and which I thought some others might find interesting, since I came to like it quite a lot. It has a clean, modern look, and solves the problem of finishing a tiled countertop edge when it is hard to find a v-cap or other trim tile for the edge that matches the field tile. It really makes it possible to use all kinds of ceramic and stone tile for a counter. And, it is probably cheaper than buying trim tile. I am thinking of using it for my own bathroom renovation. you can get either inside or outside corner insert pieces, and the stuff is made of aluminum. It is called Rondec-Step, by a company called Schluter. It is generally not stocked here in the U.S., but Home Depot can order it. It comes in a variety of sizes.

Nice!
I would have considered that for the bathroom that I just tiled if I'd known about it. Do they have inside corner trim, too? They must. That would have made my job a lot easier. Cutting those big, heavy V-trim pieces for corners was a pain the ass.
I like that green tile a lot. Is that European, too?

The person who I was working...
The person who I was working for bought the tile. It was left over from a tub surround I did (not sure of the country of origin, but I can ask her), and she wanted to use this left over tile for a countertop. But since we had no edge trim, I suggested this stuff. Yes, there is inside corners also. It can't bend to follow curves though. It is sized for three different tile thicknesses, if I remember correctly. The stuff I used was sized to work with a substrate composed of 3/4" plywood with 1/2" of concrete board on top of that. It is fairly thick aluminum, and pretty sturdy stuff.
Edit: The outside corner (shown) and inside corner pieces are actually machined from solid pieces of aluminum, and fit very precisely into the edging strips. It is a nicely made product.
Edit: The green tile is made by Cepac Tile, from their Landmark line.
