I know Killian is a fan, and saw on another thread others talking about Banksy..
so.........
Here is a vid of the latest CANS Festival in London
Wooster Collective
is part of my bookmarks bar.
I was an art student in the mid 80's.
I did a bit of it myself and a couple years later worked
at the Apollo theatre tagging stage sets for rap groups.
I wonder where those photos are...and a mural i did for the late Tupac.
Much of my commuting in NYC involves the Harlem River Drive.
Just about when the traffic slows before i cross the 59th st bridge,
i pass Keith Harings "Crack is Wack"
Street art is in my soul.

The Keith Haring Foundation was established in 1989 to assist AIDS-related and children's charities, and maintains the largest resource of archives on the late artist, Keith Haring.

I like these clever "bears"
that some guy fashions outta plastic bags, then ties onto NYC subway gratings. They come alive when a train passes.

As off topic, the content of this post have been removed to the thread linked below.
Dear Robert:
In the following posts there are some ideas and photos I've been collecting through last year, when I saw many times some of them I remembered this issue, sometimes I had the camera.
Art Street,
On somewhat quite incomprehensible languages.
The Videos:
I saw again the videos... and how much talent. Great the works and great atmosphere too.
I'm going to post other thing that I see here...
Since this thread was open, I had some issues related in mind.
I've been collecting since then some stuff, and here I'll post some to re-start.
First, I'm an amateur on this. A week ago I went to a bookstore and saw a book about it, the history, etc. But instead of investing in that book I decided to buy a book about "Che and markets/shopping" for another thread ;).
I thought that somebody could made a very little introduction, better than me. Robert perhaps?
Once again, I pass the ball as you see. 😉
But Here is some of the material:
I don't want to talk too much, but what recall my attention is the translation from what supposed to be a popular/transgressive art, in a quite chic-elite art. From the night to morning to me, almost without realizing.
I could be sleeping or looking in other direction, OK, but not so much. Here there is something....hidden?...or in the surface?..
I didn't saw much REAL art-street, and suddenly appears here in the most trendy events...Palermo Viejo (Palermo Soho) is the trendiest neighborhood and appears beside the traditional expensive ads, as a "casual" graffiti (provably paying much more for this than for the traditional ones).
Study Case 1, Nike
Study Case 1
Nike
Nike huge store [Here, when I say Nike and recall N.Klein :)], The building conserved the traditional facade, (good for the Brand/or provably the architects)
But makes an installation with street art.
Note that photos have half the building with graffiti/art but was all complete. I could took the
photos at least with some part.
In the 3rd pic can be seen the contrast with the Lascoste (tidy) Nike (casual?)

Some details:

Gafiti over grafiti
Pic2
Construction detail
They needed to use pubic space.
Pay atention to construction permision in other photo (3rd photo 1st part).
I also recall that they paid 24hs-day-and-night security (people and car)to protect the "street art". (!!!)
Study Case 2, FPD09
Study Case 2
Feria Puro Diseño 2009 FPD09
A kind of 100% Pure Design fair. It was in the hall, as a welcome, painted by street artists during the fair...as well as all marketing, papers, catalogues, and ads.
Is quite trendy, not to say frivolous. I had a booth, so I "take over" my responsibility. But everything have a limit 😉
Note that can be appreciated, as well as the paintings, also the the happy people taking pretty pictures of their pretty faces with the pretty? street art.
