Well folks we hit 100 on Nelson 4 so time to start a new thread, as it does get a little tiring to go through them all to get to the bottom. Alex and Patrick will have to archive this on to the blog, this one thread seems to be the most popular of all threads,

You can read the previous thread 'still more about Nelson clocks 4' here:

OK...here's the two most insane
Nelson clocks ever:
First one is 2276 and it's called the Hemisphere "Floating Mine" wall clock.
Second one is 2275 and it's called the Full Sphere "Floating Mine" wall clock. This model was also available as a Ceiling hanging clock with a clock face on front AND back!!
Gee, they're really bizarre

I never said they were beautiful
but I'm amazed that you have such a violent opinion about 'em, Lloyd. I'd love to have one (bet it looks cooler in person).

i would not call my opinion that violent it just looks rather gaudy and over the top. I love nelson like a member of my family
i also have some pretty out there pieces by panton, and Gio Ponta and Robert Sonomon and none look that strange, i guess i would have to see it up close to see if it was great

Love em
I really like these. Exactly my kind of thing!
*add on, if Vitra reissued these, as well as the Motion Notion, the only ones I'd seriously consider buying from their hyper-inflated (many pejoratives later) catalog.

Hideous
Those clocks are the most hideous designs I've seen in many years. I imagine Olive would echo my opinion. Seriosuly, I once had a genital condition that looked a little like these clocks. A bit of sunlight and some cream and it cleared up.

Clown Fishing
Stephens condition does not distract my attention from a more likely influence or similarity. Also reminds me of viruses, diatoms, crystalline structures...

um...I think that clock actually is vintage LRF. That's the back that Howard Miller used for battery driven clocks (which is why Vitra uses it today). You can see the 4 digit code impressed in the back. That, and the all around wear (particularly the patina on the brass arms), point to it most definitely being genuine and vintage.

Yup, BRB, it's an original one
The battery pack is a C battery pack, which is the correct vintage. The clear close-up pix show the typical wear one finds on that period.
The model is:
4755M
Multicolor balls, white center, black hands
sold for $32.50 electric, $37.50 win, and $47.50 battery.

Just snapped this one up
2408C, heavy metal case with glass in front of the clockface, available in electric or battery (this one's electric)
This was an expensive clock that was designed as a group of clocks for offices. (originally sold for $60.00 electric and $70.00 battery)
Got it as a "buy it now" for $145.00.
I like it.

I emailed the owner of the ...
I emailed the owner of the ball clock and he said it was made in the 70s and came out of a store in Minneapolis with that label on it ,
Those plates on the back were used by every one starting in the 70s , and that is a 70s c battery pack used by miller before the AA i dont think it really is made by Howard miller BUT I have been wrong once or twice, but this just does not have the real feel of a vintage Howard miller piece. no stamp at all
