Just picked up a A-Line President lounge / Cado 265 chair also known as Meteor chair. Only have the shell - no headrest or cushions. If I have cushions made, does anyone know how they were originally attached to the shell or were they just layed on it unattached? Here's a link to one of these chairs, unfortunately not mine. http://www.vintageseekers.com/products/1970s-steen-ostergaard-meteor-chair-and-stool
Since no one on this forum could help
I wrote to the designer's daughter, Sanja Ostergaard. Here's her reply =
Thank you for contacting us, and Congratulations on your purchase!
The President lounge chair is part of a furniture range called: The A-line, which consist of:
a dining chair, an armchair, a dining table, a sofa and your President lounge chair and a footstool.
Originally the furniture only had numbers, where the lounge chair was named 265 and the matching footstool 265F.
The name Meteor is incorrect, - someone might have invented that name in relation to the movie: Star Trek in which the lounge chair was featured.
For the time being the parts you are requesting are only available second hand, unfortunately.
The first lot of chairs in production had loose cushions made of wool, after 1973 it was produced with attached cushions.
The cushions were made of foam, covered with stretch material top-stitched and attached to a fitted shell and then attached with screws from the underside of the chair.
We suggest to have loose cushions made out of drain-dry foam and covered with Sunbrella fabric, this makes the chair suitable for out-door too.
The cushions can be attached with Velcro to the base.
We are looking forward to start up a production again to produce the President Lounge chair and the footrest, estimated in 2015.
Hope this help.
Have a Nice day

Sanja Ostergaard
Thanks for Sharing the response
I've always liked that chair designed by Steen Ostergaard I have another chair by him. I believe I saw that shell for sale on Ebay or it was possible another? Anyways good luck your upholstery of the chair I'm sure it will look great.
I've attached a pic of the chair I have.
Cheers!
Charles
Thanks Charles
you have the A-Line dining chair designed in 1966 for Cado and currently made by Nielaus. Here's an interesting fact I saw about your chair on the Ostergaard web site.
Selected for jails in USA - reasons easy to clean and no legs to be used as weapons. Almost makes me want to be a criminal.
Yes, the one I got was on ebay for $200. and beige colored. I got it for half that and the seller lived a few minutes from me. I doubt if it'll ever be restored as getting the headrest section in beige will be a big challenge but who knows - the universe does surprise me all the time.
Nice find
Thanks for the info on my 290 chair. I wasn't aware of the jail association. I did not know that they are still being produced. Thanks for that info also! My brown chair is stamped Cado, so I'm guessing it's an earlier chair? I can't complain I picked it up at a Goodwill store in California for $7, it's in excellent shape! It's next to the 1959 Drexel Declaration night stand that I picked up at the same store for $29.99!
I'm fortunate to be able to score quite a bit of Mid Century Modern furniture on the cheap!
I think you still have a score, enjoy!
