I have two vintage fiberglass eames shells that were painted with what looks like a single coat of house paint( with a brush). I would like to get them back to their original condition, but I am worried that paint thinner will remove the resin on the fiberglass. Any thoughts?

citrus strip works fine also
I found two early Eames, Zenith chairs, and since they were rough underneath the paint, they needed a more aggresive remover. I used citrus strip, and it doesn't really hurt the gel resin, if you get it off within a day. I even save the label by timing the lifting just right. You may have to rub the paint off a little (while the stripper is working) if the parent surface was rough before being painted. That was the reason mine were painted in the first place.
I am the guy that isn't afraid to try anything, and I haven't ruined anything yet. Some people are probably going to tell you not to do this, but I have proof it works.
Citrus also removes latex paint from plaster really well also!
