Congratulations and thanks for sharing.
You've learn a lot, eh?
I think it's great that your program encourages seeing the project through the complete process.
Simple is deceiving, isn't it?

I think
you should call this the JLo table. She is stunning, but a little heavy in the booty. My husband, however, tells me that I am crazy and there ain't nothin' wrong with JLo.
Seriously, the base is fabulous. If the top was thicker, I would buy two. Congratulations.

.
I would happily have one or two in the house my personal preference would be one with just the metal base not the Ply X base. Great work.

Riki' that is hilarious! I...
Riki' that is hilarious! I agree that it is a bit bottom heavy. Perhaps I will make the top double the thickness it is now... or should I make the base a little less cumbersome?
This was my first foray into welding, and I had a blast! I'm super excited that I now have the skills to build metal structures. I have a million ideas running through my head.
I have no shame in saying that I used the ltr for inspiration, however, I tried to change it enough so that it wasn't a total ripoff. Like I said in my first post, I have yet to find my own distinct style. I'm simply learning techniques at this point in my education.
Thank you all for the feedback... It means a lot to hear from you guys (and gals).

Thank YOU for sharing
this project with us.
Perhaps the least professional aspect of the completed table is the metalwork. I'm impressed that you were able to make your attachment points to the wood base so neatly -- but the visible weld discolorations, and (more importantly ?) the "soft" bends distract from the desired effect -- I would guess.
Bending rod (above a certain gauge) can be frustrating. A device intended to make tight and even bends in probably indispensable, and your school shop may not possess one. Wedging the rod tightly into two pieces of pipe, with a gap just where the bend is to occur, is one work-around for this problem. Done correctly, this should produce a tight bend rather than an elliptical one . . .
Anyway, the rest of the work is very neat and complete. Yes, the top may look a bit thin, and I would still like to see the base X as a structurally-continuous element. But I can see this project leading you in some very interesting directions. Thanks once more for letting us see -- and do show us the next project you undertake !
