Robert, i'm damn impressed. how difficult of an ordeal was it to turn it into kitchen cabinetry? Did you run into any major issues during the process?

I think these wall units were mostly sold as modular pieces that you ordered to suit, therefore each piece was easily separated and reconfigured.
The plinths and cornices were easy to re-use too (as was the lighting)

Double Wow-- I showed your pics to my wife, now she wants to do a basement bar/kitchen in a similar vein. More work for me. Great idea and execution--maybe we need a thread where people repurpose vintage furniture.

it was born of a small budget (and a passion for recycling)
But I think I might do it again too- if I find the right wall units.
eBay isn't what it was ...
