There is a large, modular sofa (camaleonda) that spiked my interest in the upcoming Rago Arts auction but living in Sweden it would most likely be quite expensive to have it shipped here.
But i would like to check so does anyone in the US have an idea on where to get a quote?
Need to find a good shipper in that area that could pick up, pack and ship.
I tried to contact Rago but they have not bothered to reply to me (which i do find a bit strange).

Can't help you with a good shipper, but I can tell you to be careful with relying too much on Rago's condition reports. I bought a table which was in "excellent condition" according to their condition report (which I specifically requested).
When I received the table, one leg was crooked (they had photographed the table in a angle where this wasn't visible). It had several losses to the veneered edges (not shown even in the additional images I had requested). It was in one of their Discovery auctions, which I think is what they now call their Unreserved auctions; which I guess means one should expect lower quality than in their more high end auction. -Still, I expect obvious damages to be disclosed when the customer asks for more info and images.
Consider shipping costs, this is worth keeping in mind I think...

Thanks
Thanks Alexander, i will keep that in mind.
I was told that there is some damage to the fabric but I do plan to reupholster the sofa anyway so shipping is my main concern.
Do you remember which shipper you used for your table?

I'm sorry Api, I can't...
I'm sorry Api, I can't remember the name of the shipper and for some reason I cannot find my correspondence with them right now...
I found a shipper through U-ship and I remember not being very happy with their communication. It took ages to get the table here, but at least they packed the table ok.
I've considered setting up a professional account with someone like Schenker and arrange my shipping from Sweden instead. That requires that you're running a business of course, but I assume you do?

Shipping to Sweden/ Apologies from Rago
Api,
You can call Karen directly at 609-397-9374 for a shipping quote or through email karen@ragoarts.com
She would know some of the most efficient options of getting this to you.
Alexander,
Sorry about your bad condition report, these reports I happen to know are the hardest thing for our staff to keep up with. Handling multiple thousands of lots at any given time in one of our 4 buildings can be quite a task. We do try very hard to be as thorough as possible.
Any problems that do occur we want to solve with our clients as fairly as we can. Please do not hesitate to call or email me. Sorry again for your inconvenience.

Rago
I live outside of Philadelphia and have been to the Rago auctions a number of times. My family owned a lot of property in the New Hope/Lambertville area when I was younger. When I was 12, I met Nakashima when he had a small store front off of the bridal path in New Hope. That entire area is dripping in MCM and Rago Arts is, in my estimation, a wonderful resource for MCM because of it. If you are ever in the Bucks County area of PA while Rago is holding one of its auctions, you should definitely check them out. I have always experienced nothing less than professionalism from their staff. However, with all vintage pieces, it is always best to see the items first hand, and, if not possible, ask for detailed photographs.
Beauty, and condition I have found, is in the eye of the beholder.
