Our white Eames DWR plastic chairs have a couple of superficial and medium-deep scratches. It turns out that young kids and polypropylene furniture are not an ideal combination. Any ideas what to do or what polish to use?

novus
in the US you can get a plastics polish called Novus. comes in three bottles, you start with the coarsest and go to the finest.
The polyprope is a solid color straight through, so even if the scratch remains the color will stay true, and you're not in any danger of irritants like the old fiberglass ones.

I've found
That the polish works well for shiny plastic surfaces and shells with gel coat intact. I've tried it on shells that have lost most of the gel coat and the polish does not buff out and shine very well.
My point being, I'm not sure how well it will work on polypropylene since the surface is matte and textured.

I've used it on
I've used it on my sister's poly rocker - works fine. In fact, I think it helped buff the matte finish back a little bit, and bring a hint of gloss to the shell.

It
stands to reason that you can't "polish" a matte textured surface without creating a shiny spot. And, the deeper a scratch is, the more material will have to be removed from the area around it before the scratch can be made to disappear.
Much time and effort can be saved is some thought is given first to the physical realities -- which anyone should be able to reason their way to, regardless of inexperience.
Without being able to give more specific advice than that, I hope to have at least spared the owner some wasted time !
By the way, what is an Eames DWR ? I've heard of the DCM and DCW. . .
