I have a similar issue but with a teak coffee table rather than a veneer. My cat overturned a glass of water that was sitting on a place mat. I had carelessly left it there after a dinner party and by the time I noticed, it had sat overnight. Now the table has a large white mark where the sodden place mat was. It is a teak Grete Jalk Mobelfabrik table and I would be grateful for any advice. Refinishing is a option but one that I would like to consider only as a final resort.

Without meaning
to be insulting, I will ask: why is it that people will spend thousands (?) a year on dry-cleaning their clothes but when a piece of furniture needs professional attention it has to be a home remedy ?
Heh-heh. . . SDR

There is a product
...for refinishing wood called "wood bleach." I have used it with success for the same application. You must apply it to the entire top so as to keep the appearance uniform. When the whole top is free of any blemishes you can LIGHTLY sand it and reapply many coats of like-colored danish teak oil. That should do it!
