The Richard Schultz lounge chair is very comfortable and I'm wondering whether anyone has attempted to install slings themselves onto the frames?
If so, is it difficult, it seems that it would be.
Knoll is currently offering 15% off on the furniture and so I'm contemplating whether to keep the old frames we bought a few years ago ( in need of replacement slings) or to buy brand new chairs.
New Richard Schultz lounge chairs @ 15% off sell for $1,110.
If my memory serves me correctly the slings alone were $900.
Thanks!
I just had a look at mine...
I just had a look at mine and I can't see it being that difficult.
It seems once you unscrew the seat from the frame and take crossbar off backside it should slide off with a bit of fiddling maybe.
I would never buy slings though when the chair is only a bit more but the sling price at $900 is silly.
If you are set on buying new then go in with cash and offer $1k each and if no wait for a near new used to come up for half the price on Ebay or Craig's list.
Or push for much cheaper price on seats maybe as they would have a much bigger mark up.
I replaced 2 slings
I ordered 2 white on white replacement slings, one for an armless lounge chair and the other for a regular lounge height arm chair. RS sent a tool to spread the top of the frame of the chairs which made it easy to align the pins and screws so everything went right into place. I trash picked these 2 chairs and then bought a few other pieces from RS so I have a complete set. This was over 10 years ago and the set has held up perfectly well and looks as good today as when I purchased it. I power wash the pieces every spring and they clean right up.
Do you mean the Contour Lounge, Zencat?
I need to replace one of my Contour mesh slings, also...due to a chunk of concrete falling through it. I did replace the sling on another Contour Lounge chair, and it was a bit tricky. I was concerned that when the underside and back aluminum braces were removed, that the remaining (unstable) frame would bend and split (rip) near the front legs. I had a friend help stabilize the legs, and mix drinks. I also need to replace an ottoman sling due to a sloppy smoker (from above me) tossing a cig over the balcony railing. Not cool.
Best,
Mark
