Hi there!
My first post, so nice to meet you all.
A week ago I came into possession of a Herman Miller, designed by Eames (Aluminium Group) lounge chair in gray vinyl.
The chrome is pretty damaged so I want to restore it. Although I'm in doubt to re-chrome the part underneath the seat as it has a sticker on it from Herman Miller Collection _designer Charles Eames (see picture). Is it really bad for the value to loose that sticker? Its weird though that it is a sticker and not an indent as I see everywhere else. Maybe someone knows why?
Other question: the base (foot) is black. I think it's painted, but I'm not sure. Could it be original black?
Thanks a lot!
Maarten

Hi there,
Thank you for your replies. I probably leave the piece where the sticker is just as it is and re-chrome the rest, except for the stand. It's an inheritance, so I'll keep the chair anyways. But first I'll try to polish it, maybe it works. Someone tried that before?
The frame is actually chromed. Chrome flakes are falling off, that is also the problem. See picture.
your chair is 100% Eames. May be the arm rests are original and the 1st owner ordered them in chrome,
or they were replaced over the years. at my ea 124 they are original in black.
chrome is very hard, best way to take off the chrome is galvaniclly. befor they where chromed, aluminum must be polished anyway.i have done this with the armrests of my ea 102
@Waldorf: Thanks. I'll send it to our galvanizing factory to put the frames in a acid bath to remove the chrome. And then it is days polishing I guess. Or maybe I can score some good ones.
@Mark: I have no idea what to do with your comment, but I can answer that you're probably right about the cat.
