Hi there, great forum.
I have recently acquired 4 aalto stools and I'm looking for some general cleaning advice as well as some specific hints and tips if possible.
One of the stools has suffered quite a bit of water damage, will this need any specific attention?
The linoleum is breaking up / cracking on one of the stools and another has a bunch of indentations, is there anything I can do to revive these?
Lastly, can someone shed some light on the age of the stools, I have attached a pic of the (barely visible) stamp on the underside of the stools. It reads "artek aalto-design made in Finland"
Any help great fully received.
Cheers
Tom

There's nothing to do to...
There's nothing to do to revive them except to wipe them down and then display them in a manner that takes full advantage of their varied colors and classic vintage appeal, and use them to reach the far-back part of the top of the kitchen cupboards and stuff like that-

amazing find, Tom
Great stools! I'm with objectworship.
I'd wipe them down with a rag soaked in mineral spirits (I'd avoid water, alcohol, glass cleaner, etc.). MS shouldn't raise the grain, dry out the wood, or affect the original finish, but it will removed dirt and grime with sufficient rubbing.
Not sure how the MS will affect the formica (?) tops - maybe try a test spot on the worst of the lot first?

Thank you!
Thanks for the advice guys, I'll do exactly that.
A friend has told me that the indentations in the linoleum may respond to heating via a hair dryer / steam iron (cover seat with damp towel first). Apparently this is a technique used on linoleum floors. Do you think this would be successful? I've got visions of the Lino melting / warping / lifting!
Cheers
Tom
