Call me selfish, but I'm glad Vitra has not remade all of the Nelson clocks.
First of all, I'm not sure they could very easily. Some of those designs, including the sixty slat wooden clock pictured in the prior forum (and of which I unfortunately happen to own 2), would be very difficult to manufacture these days. As I understand it, there are also several prototype clocks that never appeared in any Howard Miller catalog. [I have one that is not cataloged, but is numbered and bears a Howard Miller tag.] Also, the "motion notion" clocks, which are definitely my favorite, have delicate plastic second hand discs that would be hard to recreate and are easily broken.
Second, by manufacturing just a few of the more common designs, it keeps Nelson in the public eye and (hopefully) increases the value of the non-reproduced models without reaching saturation. I'm not looking to sell, but I'd like the clocks I have to increase in value.
