It is possible
to pull them, but they are extremely stubborn and often break in the process. The shaft is barbed in a directional way and they are only meant to go in, not come out. My solution is to finish breaking off any of the remaining foot part and then tap the rest up into the tube. You can then install a new foot. It works very well. For salvaging a good foot from a bad or unwanted base I have cut the leg off about a foot above the bottom and then tap the good foot out with a large screwdriver.
