I'm looking at buying a teak Poul Jensen Z chair and I would value your opinions on the quality and authenticity of the piece I'm looking at. The issues are, not a Selig import but does have a 'Made in Denmark' stamp, could this be a copy or is it the real thing. The seat bench looks a different wood stained teak. There are two screws from a repair on the seat base to the front legs. It is being offered at a reasonable price so I'm tempted.
Thanks!

Looks totally legit to me,...
Looks totally legit to me, and I think there is slim to no chance of it not being the real deal. Teak examples are not easy to come by, and pretty desirable. A pair would be great.

Almost certainly a real Z...
Almost certainly a real Z chair. There are many out there that were not sold through Selig. Two-tone wood is also fairly common (I have one myself). I have read descriptions where the lighter wood is maple, but have not seen any original reference literature to back that up. If you remove the added screws, the chair should disassemble into a few pieces rather easily. A chair in good shape actually assembles quite sturdily without any screws.
Anything around $500 is a reasonably good deal. Anything around $300, scoop up immediately.
