What did you all think of that movie and the question of stores buying vintage pieces from the children of those who have just died and then marking them up to sell to the public? I found the movie pretty depressing in a lot of ways, but not because of the MCM angle. Just not many sympathetic characters...
the question of stores buying vintage pieces
from the children of those who have just died and then marking them up to sell to the public?
People die all the time and those left behind sell the stuff they don't want, mid-century and otherwise, it's the life blood (no pun intended) of the Antique trade.
Of course things are marked up... people have a living to make, rent and bills to pay... what's the problem ?
Oh No
you mean they are giving people what they want and then reselling for profit when the Children of the Dead could easily have opened their own stores, learned all about what they had, cleaned it up, built up a customer base and goodwill, and kept all the profit for themselves?
TSK!
How awful
Shocking

This is ridiculous to think
that anyone buying second hand goods should ever know about or feel guilty about the circumstances surrounding how these goods made it to a shop so you could buy it.
There's no way in hell I want to know the backstory or should ever feel guilty about it....if it's for sale legally, then how the goods got there is immaterial!
