This is my first post here, I figure someone may be able to help out. I snagged this almost 7' rosewood sideboard from CL yesterday. This is one piece that has been on my "list" for a while.

It has the Westnofa label on the bottom but what I have gathered from reading info from Design Addict, Westnofa was sort of an umbrella export company. I was hoping to find out who the design/maker was.

Story and more images here

Thanks in advance for any help

Tyler

God, I love rosewood. And...
God, I love rosewood. And that grain is exceptional -- I don't know anything about the piece but congratulations on a great find.

You are priveledged, grain like that only comes from an old tree, please keep it away from sources of dry heat, cool air, or direct sunlight, don't put it near an air conditioning outlet. I usually dislike this sort of thing but if it were mine I'd put some sort of fabric runner on the top.
Did I mention I'm deeply envious?

Wow-- gorgeous.
Heath, why would you want to conceal that beautiful grain with a fabric runner, fer cryin' out loud?

I know what you're saying but if it were mine I'd uncover it now and then to appreciate it,for a week or two. I used to live opposite a beautiful stretch of beach and after a couple of months its like it just wasn't there anymore, if I'd lived further back staying in that town would have been more attractive.

Sheesh. I love how this piece is being truly appreciated for what it is. I have no idea what it is either but its making me sweat. The wood is simply stunning.

I see-- you'd hide it except for occassional "zen views"
as Christopher Alexander would call it.*
I thought you were suggesting it be covered to "protect" it from harm.

Indescribably delicious
That my friend is Brazilian Rosewood. Please tell me it is veneer or I will give you whatever you want for it and build guitars for the rest of my life!

Brent, it is a combination of veneer and solid pieces. The sides and the drawer fronts seem to be solid. The top and doors are veneer.
