All, first time posting after much listening! Great site and thanks to all for the information gleaned over the years! I have had for a few years 2 armchairs which were from an uncle in Brisbane. I have always known they were "Danish inspired" but Australian made but never found the maker. I now know these are by Don Rex and called the 'Speed frame Chair", most likely made in Brisbane in the 60's or 70's?
Unfortunately except for the odd reference to the name and period I can find no info about Don Rex or his business so was wondering If anyone has any ideas about his work, where he was, why (if he did) close etc. They are great chairs, very comfortable etc. I would love to post a picture but I am now overseas and separated from my furniture for a period! Any and all help is greatly appreciated and again thanks to those who take time to pass on their knowledge.

Don Rex
Hi Les,
Don Rex furniture appears to have been very
popular in Brisbane during the 1950's and I think
the best approach to finding out more about
the company is to visit your state library and
speak to local vintage furniture dealers.
The state library in Brisbane has a fantastic collection
of 1950's Home Beautiful magazines where you might
find article and images related to Don Rex furniture.
Good luck with your search. I saw a pair of the chairs
you mentioned at the website below.
