Not
sure if it quite fits the 50s vibe, but for Palm Springs glamour, The Viceroy was fabulous when I stayed there

DEFINITELY.....
the Orbit Inn...stayed there during a weekender and it was just great...salt water pool, view of a FLW house and scenery, free happy hour with "Orbitinis" and rooms that are just decked out...the staff is super friendly too!! had a great time, didnt want to leave!!
{boy i was way off, much like my milk-i need to check the dates!!;}
really?
you really wanted to drop 7 grand to stay in a house for a week?...sounds wasteful....
And i seriously doubt there will be lots of yard sales with MCM furniture at them...IF there are you are in the meca for hunters - competition galore.......Your talking like its the old west and you can scoop gold from the streams only to find that it is not much different from where you came from...or like charlie and the chocolate factory was based on a true story...
just dont get those hopes of yours to high....If everyones beliefs of California were true I would live next to Tom Cruze and Jean Simmons I would go surfing every day, Im rich, and Since I live in california i must live in LA. Oh and San Francisco is also only filled with gays. (Also that California is only filled with democrats when through-ought California's history Its has remained a red state for presidential elections.)
I wish you luck...and hope you see tons of celebrities but dont look them in the eyes...they hate that! D:
Del Marcos Hotel
1947 William Cody - we always stay here because it's one of the few cool hotels that is dog friendly, and we always have our dog. It's a block off the strip (Palm Canyon Dr.) and walking distance to the nice hiking trail where a 10 minute easy hike gets you a gorgeous vista.
And the neighborhood it's in has some cool homes - it's right around the corner from a newly built Alexander butterfly house which is also a vacation rental. ( http://www.vrbo.com/242372 )
I've always wanted to stay at Orbit Inn though (but not dog friendly).
OOPS - just noticed this thread is old! Well, posting for future reference then.
