I just saw the auction results from Wright for a set of 6 wastepaper baskets which sold for $37,500. What gives?

Nope.
The Wright Heggen tulip bubble is real and has reached "irrational exuberance" levels.
I wonder if there are two Russian and/or Middle Eastern oil billionaire collectors that are having a personal duel during these Wright Auctions. Leslie Hindeman tried to cash in with a similar lot a few weeks ago and didn't come close to the Wright magic.

A little follow-up on my previous post. . .
I know the guy who listed part of his Heggen waste bin set for the Hindeman auction earlier this year. While he also submits pieces for Wright's auctions, he lamented that Wright would not accept his Heggens for auction. Apparently Wright has a single source for these bins and has an arrangement not to accept lots from other sources.
If accurate, the beneficiaries of the Heggen bubble would then be limited to two parties: Wright (via commissions) and their single source.
I'm personally interested in the development of this market, as I have two teak Heggens in good shape on display in the house (procured for roughly $150 apiece on eBay within the last couple of years).
Is the bubble starting to burst?

For some reason Wright doubled the size of their usual Heggen lot. Hammer was $6K for 14, which is not too far above current eBay prices per bin.
