Hi All, I was wondering if you could tell me how I can tell if I have an authentic original Bertoia Diamond Chair (I have 4 of em) or if you know of someplace were I could find out that information? It's painted over but where the paint is chipping off, it looks like it had white enamel originally. If it is an original, generally, what are their worth? I'd really appreciate any info you have!! Thanks so much, Renee
Looks original. It goes...
Looks original. It goes without saying (though I'm saying it) that the value is pretty much decimated by the chair's current condition.
I haven't been watching ebay prices for these recently, but vintage ones in excellent condition (no breaks, no rust, no...green paint...) generally go for a little over $200 without pads. Here's one (see link) that's been refinished and failed to sell at $189.
So you're not gonna make a mint off this, I'm afraid. but if you want to refinish it (professionally or otherwise) and enjoy it, you can definitely do that for less than the cost of a mint one off ebay.
I like it when people do a white top with black legs. If you're going to refinish them for sale, I'd recommend that set-up since it generally commands a premium.

a web resource
out of general interest, i did a brief google search and found the associated link [below].
perhaps LRF may take a break from his beautiful stonework and pipe in here on his experience with powder coating. [lloyd, are you there?]
on a related note, powdered sugar donuts are quite tasty.
