I drive Toyotas, because I cannot afford the cars I like to think about and do not want to think about the cars I can afford.
As with everything Toyota, the key fobs work well and reliably, but they never feel as good and ergonomically correct in my hand as I wish they did, nor do they look as sharp as I wish they did.
I actually look forward to pulling out my thin, flat, mid level Motorola cell phone in black and immitation annodized aluminum surfaces.
I would like to look forward to pulling out my high tech key fob as well.
Does anyone have a key fob with remote door lock and trunk lock function that they can recommend?
All in one package
I hear thee!
What I have is a integrated fob & key. It's all in one. The buttons are on a bloated key handle. Works quite well. Unless you like medieval, jangling masses on a key chain. This though...leaves to another problem...Having just 3 discreet keys sometimes feels too whisper light I forget I have them, or paranoid I lost them.
Here we go
Here's an image I found of the fob I own. I also included an interesting tibbit on edmunds top 10 key fobs. Keys are getting some serious design attention.

Keys.
Greetings, Royal Porkchops,
Being the car crazed idiot that I am, I use different remote key fobs daily. My favorite is the model that Mercedes Benz made through 2002, as it contours to the index finger nicely, and has easy to find buttons for lock/unlock/panic. My newer Mercedes products are keyless (meaning that you have to have a stupid piece of plastic in your pocket, and the door unlocks automatically when approaching the vehicle, and the ignition is a push start button). I don't care for this method, as the square piece of plastic isn't comfortable to carry in my front pocket. I have a couple year old BMW 650i that has a nicely laid out remote, but the metal blade that you insert into the ignition is somewhat sharp, and isn't the most comfortable to carry. Lately I've been driving a MINI cooper S, that has the same key as the older BMW's...again, too sharp for comfort. I learned the hard way not to carry multiple keys on a key chain, and expect the MINI's ignition to hold up..the weight of other keys wear out the ignition quickly (not covered under warrantee). One good design about the MINI's key is that the remote batteries recharge every time you insert the key into the ignition. The dealer recomends alternating the spare key, so all keys stay charged. All of my remotes on all of the cars offer a feature that will unlock doors, lower all windows, disable alarm, and open sunroof if you hold the unlock button down long enough...and just the opposite if you hold down the lock button down long enough. I like that feature. Most remotes can also be programmed to open all doors, or just the driver door...another safe feature.
