no...
it's an Austrian (Vienna)architectural office by the name of Delugan Meissl. The principals are Elke Meissl and Roman Delugan.

Huh.
Well, if Daniel Libeskind's design cues are being knocked off, he must be doing all right. (I misspelled his name above.)

It is a very striking exercise in moribund formalism...
What is it made of? Can't tell.
How is it made? Can't tell.
What do its striking forms accomplish functionally? Can't tell.
What about the space program required it to look this way? Nothing.
The irony, of course, is that Porsche Design would never have created anything remotely like this, either in cars, or radios, or watches, or tea kettles.
God help us all if Delugan Meissl is about to take over design of Porsche cars.
Shoulda hired Piano.
Outta here.

Well Porsche obviously needs some help...
designing their cars because it seems all they can do is adapt the ONE they have. Seems really odd that a company that designs such stellar pipes, shoes, pens et al can only repurpose the 911 design. I don't care HOW MUCH of an icon it may be, FRAME IT and MOVE ON.

...There's no doubt about it...
... even now: the new edifice by Vienna's Delugan Meissl is an eye-catcher. The fascinating impact of the monolithic, virtually floating exhibition hall can be felt. This bold and dynamic architecture reflects the company?s philosophy and provides a foretaste of the experience that awaits visitors to the museum. It is designed to convey a sense of arrival and approachability, and to guide the visitors smoothly from the basement level into the superstructure.
In their design, the architects at Delugan Meissl set out to create a place of sensuous experience that reflects the authenticity of Porsche products and services as well as the company?s character, while also reshaping Porscheplatz with an unmistakable appearance.
cut and paste from Porsche's website...I am sure Ferdinand is very happy! after all this description is probably as accurate as the "History" on the same page...where Ferdinand's involvement in car design starts in 1948!!...and why was it again that the French kept him as a prisoner of war untill 1948?...Oh yes, Kraft durch Freude!

They did try and replace the 911 in 1977 with the 928 however the 911 continued to sell well (also the planned legislation regarding rear engined cars never went through)

I LOVE the 928 Pete,
I just think it's time to tear down camp after 30+ years (credit being given for 928, 944, 944-variant whatever it was called-the 944 w/928 lights, MAYBE even the Carrera GT was a smallish departure) and try something DIFFERENT from a DESIGN perspective and not just a re-STYLING perspective. Even if you are a Porsche devotee, you have to admit it would be nice to see something new, eh?

Here is what Porsche Design of vehicles has come to...
and it isn't pretty...or elegantly engineered...or desirable.

Yeah, shame.
Though I still wish I'd bought that 1966 Porsche 912 when I was 18. Instead I got a '69 convertible Karmann Ghia. Wish I'd never sold that either.
