Hello Everybody,
I just bought a DAF chair on ebay for a really good price, certainly because it doesn't have the famous swag legs. Instead it's mounted on a regular H base as many Eames chairs from the same era. I've never heard of any DAF chair mounted on such base (but I've seen some on Lafonda base ) so I was wondering if it was an original mount or not... Maybe some of you can help me in this..
daf
the daf chair was offered only in the swag leg and the la fonda base in its late years.
herman miller was very accomodating however and any chair at the time could have been fitted with any base that would work as a special order.. the easiest way to tell if the chair is original to the base is if you take the base off and look for previous pressure marks from an earlier base.
Many thanks for your answer!...
Many thanks for your answer! I've checked the pressure marks on the rubber mounts as you suggested, and apparently the only marks are the one from the H base... which would let me think it's the original lay out... by the way would any body know why Herman Miller changed the swag legs for the Lafonda's on late models???
