About a year ago, I bought a photocopy of the mega rare Comprehensive Storage System instruction manual off a guy on on eBay and won it for $60.00.

It's ungodly rare....and one of the 1950's items that actually requires instruction on how to assemble the unit without it being a major undertaking (it's quite complicated).

Anyhow, I mentioned that I had these instructions and got a number of requests, so I went to the expense of getting copies printed up - on goldenrod paper, and also included a black and white copy of the color CSS/CPS brochure that shows cool pictures.

Without mentioning it here, I put it up on eBay selling each 58 page booklet for $40.00, postage free in the US.

I did not want to promote it here, but I got a complaint from a member who was looking for a copy of the instructions for free, and quite honestly, it would've been difficult too make .jpg's of all 58 pages.

I hope no one think I'm trying to rip anyone off.....I DID offer to send anyone the Paul McCobb brochure for free, since it IS ion .jpg form and can be easily sent.

You're in the right.
Don't worry about the complaint. Selling repros of old rare catalogues is done all the time (on eBay and elsewhere on the 'Net). And if someone thinks the price is too high, well, s/he can either negotiate with you or buy it somewhere else.

uh oh
Sweet, I made the forums! Sorry bro I had no idea it was 50 pages..I might purchase one next week when I recover from my furniture buying binge. Right now I have some fabricating to do; can't find any square spring tops so I am fabricating my own. Luckily we have a machine shop here at work! I wonder if I could just send them a CAD file and have them tool it up under a bogus project name...hmmm

Just put it up again
I hate to be tacky, but for anyone who might want this booklet, you can't find it anywhere else.
I just put it up again on eBay.
The 'buy it now' auction is running for another 10 days.
check it out at eBay and search for CSS Nelson

Hi Barry,
I hope you are well. Today I have purchased a very large CSS system with approx 8 cabinet units, and 10-12 shelves etc. Would you be able to send over a copy to me? Of course happy to pay the $40 and whatever the postage might cost 🙂 Thanks a lot!

The booklet include step by step instructions on how to assemble it, but it'll fruatrate you over the pieces that were available at the time!

Send me the pages
If anyone has an old brochure or other material that they think others might be interested in, I can publish them on my web page. But I only publish material that's old enough not to be under practical copyright. I use compressed PDF:s so they're quite small in size.
Just e-mail me if you have something to share - jef180@gmail.com
