Hey everyone, I just stumbled upon this great forum, in an ongoing search to find who made my couch and chair.
My girlfriend and I bought these two items from a family who has owned them since new. Unfortunately they only thing they knew about the pieces were that they were originally bought (by a former generation) in the 50's in Brazil. The couch was in great condition, and in need of only partial restoration, when I found it.
We stripped the wrought iron frame, and repainted it, a beautiful anodized black, carefully undid all of the hand sewn stitches in the pillows/cushions, and removed the original latex foam (which I believe was a material used in higher end products of the time), cleaned the fabric (that took two whole weeks, and a lot of labor!), replaced the foam and sewed the fabric back up with my mother, who is a master at these things...
So, at the end of the day, we have these beautiful pieces which we love, and cherish, but would like to know more about them. If anyone has any info regarding this design, the value of these things, or anything else, please let us know!
Thanks in advance!
P.S. On each seat cushion there were eight buttons (four on each side) and two buttons on each back pillow (one on each side). If you can't make it out in the photo, the orange color of the fabric is a deep rusty orange (a bit deeper than the photo shows) and the back pillows are a dark blue with purple hue.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah,...
Thanks for the reply. Yeah, it's very comfortable. When I redid the foam, I chose something very dense (as the seat cushions are slim) and the back pillows have to support your entire weight as you lean back. Because the wrought iron frame is perpendicular to the seat, the back pillow needs to be at a comfortable angle, and strong enough to lean on and not give. Not the most practical design, requiring adjustment of the pillows every time you sit, but surprisingly comfortable!
This couch and chair have been an eye opener into artistically designed furniture for my girlfriend and me. We've recently purchased some mark stamm cantilever chairs (both with and without arms) to compliment the low slung theme we're trying to keep.
