CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF MODERN!

SEARCH IS ON FOR NEWLY APPRECIATED WORKS BY LESSER-KNOWN DESIGNERS AT UPCOMING MODERN SHOW

October 12-14
IT'S THE RESOURCE FOR THE BEST IN MODERN DESIGN

Show hours are Friday and Saturday, 11 am ?7 pm; Sunday, 11 am ?5 pm. Admission is $l5. Admission plus a one-year subscription to Modernism Magazine is $20. For more information, contact Stella Show Mgmt Co. at 212/255-0020 or visit their web site at www.stellashows.com.

Sornay? Dudouyt ?Olsen?Andersen?Devore?McKee?Paley. Recognize the names? You will if you are a passionate lover of Modern design. For these are the furniture designers and artisans of the twentieth century whose work is just now beginning to be appreciated and sought out in a market where demand often outstrips supply.

At the upcoming Modern Show, October 12-14, at the 26th Regiment Armory in Manhattan, these and other "emerging designers" will be sharing the limelight with the "greats" of the Modern design movement ? recognized furniture makers and craftsmen who have made Modernism one of the most popular looks in home décor today.

Over fifty of the nation's most respected dealers will be bringing coveted pieces and collections they have saved especially for this show ? a well-attended three-day event that insiders acknowledge as one of the finest resources in the country for twentieth century design. And, many dealers will have the unexpected piece by a relatively unknown artist that may well escalate in value over time.

Interested in knowing more about which designers to watch? The show will feature a special seminar by a panel of the country's top experts on how to buy the work of lesser-known artisans before recognition and demand drive prices upward. Here is an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of what literally could become the "next wave" of collecting in this lucrative market ? one that shows no signs of slowing down as more devotees are drawn to the simple yet elegant lines of the Modernism aesthetic.

"The astonishing prices for well-known designers such as Nakashima has created a fresh market of interest and appreciation for lesser known artists from the period ? artists who are equally as talented and adventurous as their better known counterparts," notes Jeffrey Schaper, industry observer, House Beautiful contributor and owner of Jeffrey Schaper antiques. "Five or six years ago, these artists were still in the fledgling stages of development as far as market interest was concerned. Now they are catching up."

I went to this show last ...
I went to this show last year and it was great I wish their were more than 50 dealers showing but the ones that were last year are the cream of the crop. Their stuff is Primo and very expensive. Hate to say but no real bargins that you can write hope and say I stole this one, cause these dealers know what they have, you might get your hands on a early day prototype, but most stuff is great condition modern items and furniture, .
a lot of 40's and 50's industrial design. and some of the most expensive collectibles you have seen.
Also that is one of the best week ends to be in NYC cause the weather is great and that is the fall in NYC. so make your reservations and plan to attend , I recommend it , and that is good enought!!!
