Where do you purchase a European sized queen mattress in the United States? Does anyone have any experience with this?

You can get a latex foam matt...
You can get a latex foam mattress in any width, length or thickness you want from foamorder.com and foamsource.com
They aren't cheap, though.
I think you can also have covers made for them--quilted or just cotton or whatever. Foamorder.com's service isn't the greatest. I ordered some chair foam from foamsource.com and they were pretty good but that's not the same as ordering a custom mattress.
I do love sleeping on latex! It's the best.

I have had them made here in...
I have had them made here in NYC at Dixie foam. They do custom sizes, offer various grades of foam, pillow tops, etc.

spanky/jesgord Thanks
I think will go over and check out the Dixie place as I am in NYC. Jesgord, do you sleep on a foam mattress? Have never tried one.

We have a king latex foam...absolutely the best bed we have ever had.
Will probably use dixiefoam for my airstream restore project.

I do like a foam mattress!
But our latest one is a Sleep Number and it is absolutely THE BEST bed I have ever slept on. Won't help with the custom size issue, but if anyone ever wondered if those things were worth it, I'd say, absolutely YES!

I just set up my queen teak...
I just set up my queen teak platform bed with floating nightstands last night after buying it on CL a few months ago. Simple, clean, basic, nice. They're not that hard to find, either.

aren't these beds designed...
aren't these beds designed by Hans Wegner?
they look good in my opinion. the only thing that would
bother me is the footend, i don't like them (being tall, maybe), they constrain the sleeping space.

Agree
The large footboard really takes away from the clean look of a modern bed, imo. Personally, I would go for something simpler, without the headboard storage either. I have limited knowledge of vintage bed designs, but you might also consider something new, such as the Case Study bed. Good luck!

thanks
Agree witht the footboard. I really would like something clean looking but my problem with the case study bed is that if you dont have everything tucked in all the time it will look horroible

I LOVE the Wegner beds. Choi...
I LOVE the Wegner beds. Choice between a new production case study bed and a Wegner bed- no brainer in my opinion.
