Veneer for
an exterior application isn't advisable, in my book. Wood swells when it is soaked (or even moistened), and only the most vigorous adhesives will overcome that movement -- not something the home crafter is likely to be able to apply successfully to a cylindrical object.
Either a new, coopered hardwood cylinder should be made, or the idea gently dropped (leaving a slight dent in the tile floor) !
Mr Chopper is a cutie. Give him a stroke, a pat, and a gentle tail pull for me.

Well then...
I shall leave the wall lamp as-is, and replace it with a chain-swagged crystal chandelier sometime after the new year. I need some drama in my life. I want silk plants. I want aroma therapy. I want a new car, too.
Many thanks,
Aunt Mark
edited this to say....I love the copper suggestion, SDR. Huge thanks. I shall sniff around for the perfect fit.

DANK?
I recommend a beautiful arrangement of SILK red meat for a touch of drama during the holidays.
Of course, REAL red meat would add a truly musky aromatic resonance to any holiday environment, but you say you are going with silk, so my guess is freshly cut weed will be the dominant "aromatic therapy" to be inhaled at Mark's this year (and every year).
Sounds like it might be time for a PICK MARK's NEW CAR thread soon?

I'm slightly confused...
....I looked at the Website for Marc Creates and noticed a striking similarity to the designs and names of the C. Jere designs. specifically the one named "Troy"
http://marccreates.com/order.shtml#troy
I'm literally looking at a catalog for Artisan House (who reps C. Jere) and they have an item also named "Troy" which is exactly the same design as the one on Marc Creates site...
Maybe someone can shed some light on this for me?
thanks all.
-S.C.
P.S. looks amazing on the wall Mark!

Steve04424
go back the Marc Creates site and read the last paragraph under "history"
As discussed in distant threads..... there is no actual individual named C.(Curtis) Jere'

Thanks
I knew the history of the two who started Curtis Jere but didn't know the association with Creates. Thanks for the push in the right direction. 🙂

Mark:
That's "coopered" -- as in made like a barrel. A woodworker would cut sticks of the right profile to form a cylinder, then put this glued-up assemblage on a lathe to created a perfect finished shape.

Aunt Mark

Time for a
snappie ? What did you end up in ? Do you have slippers matching Mr Chopper's coat ? I've been dreaming about costume. Must be the buzz. Installed some menu-board frames for Rachel at the Dolores Park Café today. Lookin' good ! But enough about me . . .

Greets SDR!
Mr Chopper gets uncomfortable sniffing around carpet slippers that mimic his lush orange coat, so I usually try a contrasting color. I'm a huge fan of Stubbs and Wootton. Now, did you take a snappy of the menu board's? I want to see.
Fondly with blessings and a 12 pack,
Aunt Mark

me too
Mark,
I too must have shoe trees (even in slippers) for all my shoes. Nice touch.
I wear the same shoes in calf. My wife says I parade around the house looking like John Barrymore (silk PJ's, silk robe, those shoes, etc).
Why do I have the strange feeling she may also be describing you?
Our cat, Bucket Cat (that I found in a Home Depot orange bucket), sleeps in a white Magis dog house (a long way from a bucket), eats from an Alessi cat bowl and goes for walks with me and my three dogs (they also lead the large life). It is good to be our pets.

Something's not right...
I just got back, and I couldn't help but feeling that there was a piece of art somewhere lurking in this forum that wasn't getting the rust prevention information, and treatment it deserved.
I heard it somewhere. Somewhere here. Scrolling through. OMG....!! There it is. EH and Woody. I can't believe it. Not to worry everybody, not to worry. I've got it all figured out. It looks like we're gonna have to get to this thing immediately , before there's just a cinder left hanging on a nail. Here's what we have to do first.....
Btw... Happy Holidays everyone..:)

Rust report.
It's beginning to rust. I'm chill.
Buzzed and bloated,

hmmmm....
Well I don't see the rust yet.... but I would never doubt you Mark.
Thanks for the report as promised. I will be waiting for the next update.
BTW, in another photo on a different thread I was noticing how nice this piece looks from INSIDE the room. It really helps create a sense of flow from inside to outside, and expands your living area in a very interesting way. But you knew that already....
Rust never sleeps.
